Low Water Level Forced KTDC Jalaraja to Stop Boat Service in Thekkady Periyar Wild Life Sanctuary

Thought to intimate an important updates with you about Thekkady Wild Life Sanctuary Boating. Lowe water level in Periyar river affecting Thekkady boating which is the main attractions for the tourists
KTDC (Kerala Tourism Development Corporation) have stopped boating service (Boat - Jalaraja with 126 Seats) in Periyar River from 21st October, 2016 onwards till further orders due to Low Water Level in the Periyar River.

KTDC Jalaraja : 9.30 AM and 1.45 PM
Also the maximum seating capacity of other trips has been reduced to 60
As per the information received from Kerala Forest Department, Small Boats (2 boats with 25 Seats each) operated by the department will continue their Boating services in the River.
This year water level gone down surprisingly and big boats can't operated properly. Considering the security and safety of the visitors, authorities taken this decision to stop the trip of big boat. Sudden change in climatic conditions and less rainfall result in low water level in the Periyar River
